One of my biggest ways of input at MountainView is the youth!
In the past few weeks we've had bible studies, various events and even ran the service this past weekend!
This is a video of us painting eggs for the kids at easter and a "lock-in" we set up!
here's some shots from a celebration service we had called "feast of fools"

more to come!

Semana Santa
Friday, April 17, 2009 | at 9:40 AM |
Last week I stayed with a Spanish family in a town called El Escorial, north of Madrid and participated in a week of prayer walking over small surrounding cities.
This was the awesome group of us:
This was a cold, rainy walk back from the canceled procession. (prosessions are large, city ran, parades of mourning and worshiping Mary) heres a video: quite depressing..
However!
The week was great. I learned a new prayer method to give to MV and prayed that God would soften the dry Spanish soil with the holy spirit so some fruit can grow! The constant prayer really made things more spiritual and drew me closer to God.

I'll be honest, until today I put off updating my blog because I knew I'd have to redo it. However, after a month and a week of being here I finally did, as you might see. So now it has a fresh new face, for things happening - in Spain!
Let me summarize the last month and a week that I've been here.
The Stokebrands:
Tricia and Chris are from Kansas and are living in Madrid through Cargill, Chris's work. They have 4 kids, one on the way, and a desire to have about 10 more. Tricia is a stay at home mom, so I spend most my days helping around the house with cleaning, and the kids:
Jude, Jesse, Mary-Claire, and Josiah
The Fishers:
Among many other things, Dave and Daphne Fisher are in charge of the interns and the young adult group called 360.
I spend a lot of my time at there house talking about crazy theories, world issues that are driving me nuts, and the goodness of God!
Mountain View Int. Church:
My internship with MV takes up the greatest chunk of my time. I attend staff meetings, events, and services. I'm working with a few couples to develop a youth group, prepare for services, and help lead worship with a group of great people by playing bass. This is the staff:
Proyecto Bernabe:

I've only helped with this once so far but it's one of the sources of outreach I will be working with.
More to come!

| THE DAY IS HERE Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 Last night, as my closest friends and I sat in my friend Melissa's car, her husband Matt suggested that we pray. As I began to lead the prayer I realized that we were sitting in the exact positions that the four of us were sitting over 3 years ago when Melissa, in tears, told us of a word she received that I would be doing long term missions in a Spanish speaking country. Now, as I type, I am sitting in the Phoenix airport about to board for Spain. It has been a few weeks over a year since I first talked to Daphne, who runs the internships at Mountain-View. Since then, God has done amazing things (which you can read in earlier entries) and I have gone through growth that I know was from God.I've never been more ready to face the journey ahead. Im waiting for a charger for my camera, so be expecting pictures! As always, keep me in your prayers. I NEED YOUR HELP Thursday, October 9th, 2008 Update: I updated my budget and I now only need to raise 3800 for the entire trip! I've been working at a coffee shop called It's a Grind and raising money. Me and some friends had a successful garage sale - thank you so much for your help! Yet! I'm still only half way there! I need everyone's help now more than ever. I was expected to leave late last month but have been delayed due to funds, which is okay because good things have happened and God's will is all that matters. However, I'm needed in Madrid this fall to help with starting youth programs, and to take the place of another intern who is leaving as an English tutor for students in Madrid. So please, if you have any intention of donating, don't delay! Here's where I'm at with funds! you can donate here just select missionaries, then christy callaway under the Missionaries and Projects title Thank you so so so much for your prayers! please keep them coming :) SUPPORT RAISING Saturday, August 30th, 2008 God is truly amazing. He has continued to work wonderful things into my mission to Spain. Last spring, I had to opportunity to nanny for the pastors of my church and a few weeks ago I stumbled across a nanny organization which trained me in CPR and all nanny-type emergencies, for free. Around the same time, I began talking to a lovely family in Madrid who has offered to let me stay in there house - free of charge! - and I can use my abilities as a nanny to help with their four kids. What a blessing! Also, I've learned that I'm going to help start a youth group for Mountain View (the church I'm interning at) and be an English tutor for the children of several Spanish families! Along with playing bass for the worship team and helping with sound tech. It's crazy how God is using all my ministry experience for this mission. Plus, a pastor of Vineyard was telling me about the large need for Spanish speakers at my church in Phoenix. Which means I can put my newly acquired Spanish speaking abilities to use in Phoenix as soon as I get back! I'm so excited to learn about the Spanish culture and be able to grow in so many ways unavailable to me now. All that's left is raising the money to go! If you've been praying and God has put it on your heart to donate you can do it easily online at this link: online giving Thank you so much for all your support. Please keep me in your prayers, I could never do any of this on my own! THE JOURNEY BEGINS! Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 I have been extremely blessed! About two months ago the youth pastor at my church allowed me to become a youth leader at a camp in Ojai, California since I couldn't afford to be a camper, which was almost unheard of and a major blessing. A few days later Christian Associates (CA) emailed me about an orientation in Thousand Oaks, California that I should attend to further my plans for interning in Spain. I never could have made it out there on my own, but it turned out that the orientation began the day after camp ended and was only a few minutes off the freeway on the way home from camp. So Vineyard dropped me off! Thanks to all these events, I had to opportunity to meet and stay for free with tons of great people and partner with the amazing organization called CA who shares my passion for spreading the kingdom of God. They have 40 years of experience in planting churches and sharing the gospel and have begun training me to do the same. I have been given the opportunity to move to Spain to intern with a church and really live out my values. So the journey begins! Next step: Raising support. |
